Display Energy Certificates (DEC)
Haven Consulting Ltd specialise in the provision of Display Energy Certificates (DEC's) for public buildings in line with the Energy Performance of Buildings Directive (EPBD) to companies and organisations in South Wales, Pembrokeshire, Swansea, Carmarthen, Ceredigion, Bridgend, Neath Port Talbot, Cardiff and Newport.

Display Energy Certificates (DEC)

A Display Energy Certificate (DEC) shows the actual energy used by a building compared with benchmark standards and has to be displayed at the point where the public enter the building.  The operational rating on the certificate, again displayed in an A to G scale, is designed to make the public be more aware of a buildings’ energy usage.

Display Energy CertificateThis type of certificate is currently applicable to all publicly accessed or publicly owned buildings over 1,000 sq meters and will need to be updated annually. The associated advisory report is valid for 7 years.  Typical buildings that will require a DEC are Council Offices, Schools, Universities, Colleges, Central Government Buildings and Council Leisure Centres.

At Haven Consulting we pride ourselves with our accreditation to produce Display Energy Certificates.  To produce the Energy Performance Certificate, we would visit the building to conduct a survey where information is gathered on the building dimensions, construction elements, type of heating, type of lighting and levels of insulation.  Property Managers affected by this regulation will need to have annual energy meter readings available for the assessor to utilise.  Incomplete or inaccurate data will result in a default G rating so it is in the best interests of the property manager to ensure the completeness and accuracy of the data provided to the assessor.  Gathered information is then fed into government approved software.  The energy rating and DEC are then produced, lodged on the governments' centralised register and a unique report reference number (RRN) assigned.  It is this RRN that is forwarded to the client to retrieve the report.  The cost to produce DEC's will vary according to the nature of the property and whether sufficient energy usage data is available from the Property Manager.
